Care and Maintenance
🧼 Brass Branding Iron Care Instructions
1. Let It Cool Naturally
After each use, allow the branding iron to cool down completely on a fire-safe surface. Avoid submerging it in water while hot — this can warp the metal or damage fine details.
2. Clean After Use
Wipe off any residue with a dry cloth while the iron is still warm (but not hot). For food residue or light scorch marks, gently scrub with a soft-bristle brush or a cloth dampened with warm water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or steel wool, as these can scratch the brass.
3. Dry Thoroughly
Brass is corrosion-resistant, but always dry the iron completely after cleaning to prevent oxidation or tarnishing over time.
4. Polish Occasionally (Optional)
To restore shine, use a small amount of brass polish on a soft cloth. Only polish the surface — not the branding face — to avoid altering your stamp’s detail.
5. Store Safely
Keep your iron in a dry place, ideally in a cloth bag or tool wrap to prevent dings. Don’t stack heavy objects on top of it.
6. Avoid Overheating
Heat the brass branding face gently with a propane torch or heat gun. Brass heats faster than steel — 2–3 minutes is usually enough. Overheating can cause detail loss or discoloration.
🔥 Pro Tip:
Test on scrap material before branding your final surface. Brass holds heat well, so you’ll often get a clean brand with a shorter press.
